To The Parents of Girls Volleyball for 2014

To: The Parents of Girls Volleyball for 2014
Volleyball is a sport that requires tryouts to be in mid-late July so that practice can start Aug 1st, as the season begins the 3rd week of August.  With that said, we want to get this information out to everyone that has signed up (or has not signed up yet!) so we can all make plans accordingly to attend these volleyball tryouts.
#1) Lets cover sign ups first.  If you have not signed up, please go to the St. Edward Athletics website and do so asap.  The website is…. https://stedwardchurch.com/athletics/
#2) The tryout schedule is listed below.  For your information, each player must attend one of the tryout sessions for their grade.  We do have a “make up” tryout a week after the regular tryouts.  This should help with any players on vacation, etc…  Each player must attend their scheduled tryout date or the make up date in order to be placed on a team.  If a player misses tryouts, then they will be placed automatically on the lowest ranked team.  This is per the St. Edward Bylaws for Athletics.  Make every attempt to make it to one of these scheduled times.
In addition, only players and SEAM staff running the tryouts will be allowed in the gym.
Volleyball Tryout Dates

July 21st:
3rd / 4th graders = 6:00pm – 7:30pm.  (Arrive at 5:45pm)
5th / 6th graders = 7:45pm – 9:15pm.  (Arrive at 7:30pm)
* The arrival time will allow SEAM representatives to attached a number to the back of the shirts and register each player, etc

July 22nd:
7th / 8th graders = 6:00pm – 7:45pm.  (Arrive at 5:45pm)

Make Up Tryouts: (For all grades)

July 28th from 6:00pm – 7:30pm  (Arrive at 5:45pm)
*This is for all grades, we will have two courts set up to accommodate all age levels.
As always, each player will do several drills that will help the SEAM staff place the player on the appropriate team.  Each girl will be given multiple attempts and touches for each drill to showcase her talents.  The Sports Director, Director for Player Selection and evaluators will be onsite to oversee the tryouts in a very fair manner.  No evaluator will be related to the players that they will evaluate.
Thanks for signing up your daughter for the 2014 volleyball season.
